UI Refresh
2026-09-08The game's mechanics had been in place for a long time. But the interface still carried traces of the early prototype days. Milestone 12 changed that.
Top-Left HUD Panel
Score, fish count, best score — these were always on screen. But how they looked mattered.
The top-left panel was redesigned from scratch. SCORE now displays with a labeled icon beside it. The fish counter and best score were aligned to matching sizes and colors. The panel background was removed — the information comes forward.
Depth Gauge
The depth indicator is one of the game's most critical pieces of information — it shows how far down you are. But visually it was behind the reference design.
The gauge was redrawn: a more readable, cleaner circular display. Aligned one-to-one with the reference design.
Coin Icon System
The $ symbol was inconsistent — present in some places, absent in others, different sizes throughout.
A coin icon system was built using TMP Sprite Asset. Now every place in the game that shows an amount of currency uses a small coin icon integrated with the text. Consistent, readable, on-brand.
Upgrade Panel
The upgrade panel is one of the game's regularly opened screens. But for a long time it was just three plain white buttons.
First we gave the button an identity: a treasure chest icon. Pressing the upgrade button now feels like you're about to open something.
Then the panel interior: Fishing Speed, Movement Area, Shield — each upgrade is now a card with its own color. Fishing Speed in blue, Movement Area in green, Shield in gold. Each card has an icon, a level indicator, and a progress bar.
A level system was also added: upgrades can be leveled from 1 to 10. At Lv.10, the button becomes 'MAX'.
The panel toggles open and closed, and clicking outside closes it too.
The Large Effect of Small Changes
No gameplay mechanic changed in this milestone. Only the interface.
But you notice it when you open the game. Everything looks a little more intentional, a little more considered. The interface doesn't just carry information — it also sends a signal about the game's quality.
